TOP GUN producer believes AI will be used in movie making

With the rise of AI and the controversy that comes with it, some in the entertainment industry, including TOP GUN producer Jerry Bruckheimer, believe it will be a benefit overall.

“Anything that makes our lives easier and doesn’t take jobs away from the people we work with every day is good for everyone,” he told Fox News Digital. “It gives them a better movie experience. We can make things look more realistic and things like that.”

Bruckheimer believes the technology poses no threat to actors’ careers.

“We are certainly not going to replace any actors. You’re never going to replace the key crew members we work with. (They) will always be there.”

AI expert Marva Bailer shared her thoughts on the technology.

“Studios are public companies and they are looking for deep customer relationships. And their customers are now very knowledgeable about technology, and they are looking for this high level of transparency,” Bailer said. “So they want to know the imagination, but they also want the reality. And customers demand this reality.”

“And it will be a very good balance between how and when to engage customers,” she added. “We’re seeing some really good examples of how companies are being super transparent with AI, and they’re having activations and using brand marketing to let customers interact using AI with the activation. And so when you do these types of campaigns, it’s kind of hard to argue because they’re part of that process now.

Other celebrities have commented on their gratitude for the positive aspects of AI. One of those people is country singer Randy Travis, who was able to ‘sing’ with the help of AI despite his speaking problems. Movieguide® previously reported:

In 2013, Travis thought he would never sing again. Now he’s grateful there’s a way he can still share his voice.

He said in a recent statement: “…by God’s grace and the support of family, friends, fellow artists and fans, I am able to create the music I love. Working again with (longtime producer) Kyle Lehning and Warner Music Nashville was so special and nostalgic, and I’m so excited to share my new song ‘Where That Came From’ with you today. Many thanks to my amazing team and the best fans in the world for putting me back in the saddle! I enjoyed every moment.”

“Don’t knock it before you try it,” the singer said of AI during the “Bobby Bones Show” on May 6. “I’ve been skeptical of technology all my life, but when I got this opportunity I thought, why not give it a go? it was a shot, and we are pleased with the results. It’s encouraging for me that I finally get the chance to sing in a different way again.”

Actor Ashton Kutcher also recently praised the potential use of AI in the entertainment industry.

“Why would you go out and shoot a house on a television show when you can just shoot it for $100? To go out and shoot it would cost you thousands of dollars,” he noted. “Action scenes where I jump off this building, you don’t have to have a stuntman do it – you could just do it (with AI).”
